Vegeta's History Vegeta was born on the planet bearing his own name Planet Vegeta. Unlike most Saiya-jin young, Vegeta's father, King Vegeta chose not to send him away to another planet. Instead, Vegeta lived with his Father and Nappa, his bodyguard, honing his skills and becoming one of the strongest warriors in the universe. Vegeta was employed by Freiza as one of his elite soldiers, in charge of preparing planets for sale. When Freiza double-crossed the Saiya-jin and destroyed planet Vegeta, Vegeta was on board Freiza's ship in his cell. Freiza told Vegeta that an asteroid had destroyed the planet. _____________________________________________________________________________________________ Saiya-jin Saga Vegeta makes his first appearance in the anime during the first saga of Dragonball Z. When Raditz arrived on Earth and in attempts to destroy Goku, Vegeta learned of the Dragonballs. He and Nappa set course for Earth immediately, as he hoped to wish for immortality. Once they arrived on Earth, they were relatively invincible, as no-one was nearly as strong as he or Nappa. After Nappa wreaked havoc for a short while, the Rogue Saiya-jin agreed to stop fighting and wait for Goku to arrive back on Earth, after completing training at King Kai's planet. Once Goku arrives, he makes short work of Nappa, easily defeating the massive Saiya-jin. Vegeta, disgusted at Nappa's failure destroys him. He and Goku now get down to battle, and battle they do for a long time. Both fighters are equal, but Goku using his Kaioken attack, starts to gain an advantage. Being overpowered. Vegeta launches a Powerball, in which enables him to transform into his Oozaru form (giant ape). He easily smacks Goku around, crushing him. Goku uses the Taioken attack, temporarily distracting Vegeta, giving Goku the opportunity to charge a Genki Dama (Spirit Bomb). Unfortunately for the Z Warriors, Vegeta recovers before the attack was launched. Meanwhile, Vegeta doesn't notice Yajirobe sneak up behind him, and with his sword, Yajirobe severs Vegeta's tail, forcing Vegeta to become normal again. At this point, Vegeta begins to battle Gohan. During this battle, Goku asks Krillin to use the energy he collected earlier for his Spirit Bomb, and to make his own. When it looks as if Gohan will be defeated, Krillin launches the attack. Vegeta evades it, but Gohan ricochets it back towards Vegeta, hitting him. The Z Warriors celebrate as they think they have defeated the Saiya-jin Prince. They then notice that he is alive, and he and Gohan resume their battle. Yajirobe steps in again and slashes Vegeta in the back with his sword. Angered that he was attacked from behind, Vegeta brutally assaults Yajirobe. This gives Gohan enough time to look at the Powerball and transform into his Oozaru form. After being smacked around by Gohan, Vegeta summons all his energy and fires a kienzan, severing Gohan's tail. Gohan's massive body falls on Vegeta and is crushed. At this point, Vegeta summons his Saiya-jin pod and begins to crawl towards it. Krillin steps up with Yajirobe's sword and holds it to Vegeta's throat, refusing to let him leave. Goku begs for Krillin to spare him, and reluctantly, Krillin agrees, allowing for Vegeta to enter his ship. Vowing to return, Vegeta flies off. |
